This is the table at the center of it.

Two disciples walking away from Jerusalem. A stranger joins them. They do not recognize him yet.

They walk. He opens the scriptures. They arrive at table. Bread is broken. Their eyes are opened.

He vanishes.

They return.

The Road to Emmaus is not a story about a miraculous appearance. It is a pattern. Confusion, companionship, reinterpretation, invitation, recognition, return. It happens in that order, and it keeps happening, every time we are disoriented enough to let a stranger walk beside us.

The table is not the end of the story.

It is where the story sends you back.
